Interlaken sits at 568 m above sea level in a sheltered valley between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. This unique position between two lakes provides a relatively mild climate with four distinct seasons.
Spring (March–May)
Temperatures of 5–18°C. Snow melts on the surrounding mountains, nature awakens — an ideal time for early hikes with fewer tourists. The Harder Kulm funicular typically opens in mid-April.
Summer (June–August)
Peak season with 18–28°C and long days (sunrise ~05:30, sunset ~21:15). Perfect for paragliding, hiking, swimming in the lakes and all outdoor activities. Occasional afternoon thunderstorms are normal — a quick check of the forecast above helps with day planning.
Autumn (September–November)
